M99 is an interesting
spiral galaxy in the constellation Coma Berenices and a
(maybe relatively new) member of the Virgo galaxy cluster. A
close encounter with another galaxy in the past may be
responsible for the apparent spiral arms distorsion. Also my
first image with the (new) Newton, now (10 years later)
reprocessed. And above the galaxy I have also noticed a quasar
(marked by an arrow) with the
light travel time of about 11.3 billion years.
